  • Leadership and Organizational, December 2019
  • 我在圣. 云火箭棒球俱乐部2019夏季.  我是比赛日推广助理.  在实习结束时, my boss told me he would love to see me back in 2020 with a full time internship role.  Since I was graduating within the next few months, I was hesitant to take another internship role.  But I accepted the job as Promotional Coordinator.  My tasks include taking the lead on implementing all pre-game, 游戏中和赛后的现场推广, 安排国歌歌手, working in the ticket office to help answer phone calls, 卖门票, 等., and helping with the overall operation of the Rox organization.  Communication Studies was applicable to this job because of the amount of interaction with fans and sponsors.  作为推广人员的一员, I am expected to create a relationship with everyone I come across and knowing how to communicate with fans of all ages has been a real asset.

  • Leadership and Organizational and Relational Major, Spring 2021
  • I am in the process of completing the Higher Education Administration Master's Program at St. 博彩平台大全.  I am just about to finish my first year of this progam, and I just ended my fifth and final year of my swimming career at SCSU.  I just started as an Admissions Counselor at St. 博彩平台大全.  作为一名本科招生顾问, I support the Office of Undergraduate Admissions by identifying, 吸引, and enrolling an academically talented and diverse student body.  I support the outreach mission of the Undergraduate Admissions Office through maintenance of a full schedule of recruitment initiatives and relationship building activities for my assigned territory.  I also work with incoming first year, transfer, and/or concurrent enrollment student populations.  It is extremely rewarding, and I am so glad to continue my professional career as a Husky!  I feel that learning how to be an effective communicator and advancing my skills and 信心 with public speaking were the most valuable aspects of my Communication Studies major.  On top of that, I also loved the material, especially when it was about interpersonal relationships.

  • Intercultural Communication Emphasis, Spring 2019
  • Business Development Representative:  I now work for a company called Green Street Advisors in Dallas, TX.  We are an industry leader in real estate and real estate investment trust (REITs) research and advisory services.  My job is to seek out and develop relationships with people and businesses who I think could potentially be future clients.  My communication studies major really taught me how to comfortably and effectively communicate with anyone and everyone.  I think the biggest thing that I got out of this major (that I didn't love at the time) was being pushed out of my comfort zone.  公众演讲, and feeling confident while doing so is a huge asset in any career, but especially if you are looking to get into a sales centered career.  也, meeting and interacting with people from all walks of life, whether that be people from other countries, 背景, 文化, 等.; and becoming comfortable having intriguing, 真正的, and wholesome conversations will help you be successful in your career, 生活中最重要的是.

  • Communication Studies Supplementary Major, Spring 2019
  • I currently work at Marvin as a Human Resources Administrator.  In this role, I do a little bit of everything.  I am involved in direct talent acquisition through the pre-employment and on-boarding process.  I also provide backup for the payroll department and serve as a primary contact for an organization of 2,000 +员工.  最近, I have been getting more involved with Benefits Administration, 这让我很兴奋!  I use what I learned from Communication Studies every day.  Because of my education and experiences from the department, I am able to perform my job with a high degree of empathy, 信心, 和开放.

  • Relational Communication Major Spring 2017
  • "I am a Life Enrichment Director at an assisted living home.  我计划, 协调和实施项目, 事件, outings and celebrations for residents that provide physical, 社会, intellectual and spiritual development opportunities for residents to participate in.  I love my job because I am making an impact on seniors' lives.  It is also a very "hands-on" job with a small amount of office work, which I enjoy.  My major has been very beneficial in my job because it has provided me the skills to communicate effectively.  It has taught me how to de-escalate and resolve conflict among seniors, 以及如何处理员工问题.  Intercultural communication has helped me communicate more effectively with staff because many of the aids are from out of country.  My effective listening class has helped a lot because being in a field with elderly you hear a lot of complaining/venting and being a good listener has honestly made residents like me more.  Overall Communication Studies gave me the tools to become a more confident speaker as well as a better communicator."
